Randy Orton def. Jack Swagger
Whether there really is a conspiracy against Jack Swagger remains to be seen, but the WWE Universe certainly did the “Real American” no favors by picking Randy Orton as his opponent in a WWE App Match on Raw. Riding the hometown momentum before the Missouri crowd, WWE’s Apex Predator made a meal of Swagger, overcoming an injury from the night before to unleash the RKO yet again.

The “Real American” found The Viper’s weakness instantly, targeting Orton’s compromised leg. But Swagger’s over-eagerness to redeem himself nearly cost him the match. Despite the “Real American’s” rally to snap in the Patriot Lock, Orton writhed his way free of the hold and let loose with the RKO to hand Swagger a narrow, yet emphatic, loss.

Randy Orton def. Big Show
The Viper, Randy Orton, delivered a truly hardcore bite in front of his hometown crowd, triumphing over an irate Big Show in an Extreme Rules Match at the tumultuous pay-per-view of the same name.

As the action got under way, Big Show asserted his dominance, taking two different Kendo sticks from his serpentine opponent and breaking them over his knee. The Viper roared back, utilizing the steel ring post against the giant. But when Orton tried to follow up with a ladder attack, Big Show kicked back the rungs with his larger-than-life boot.

Using his massive size to his advantage, Big Show took charge, eventually propping up the ladder on top of two chairs and then setting Orton on top of the mountain of steel. But when Big Show tried to drop at Orton from the second rope, Orton moved, sending his adversary crashing onto the excruciating concoction. In spite of this, when Orton hit the follow-up RKO, Big Show kicked out!

WWE’s Apex Predator unleashed a brutal chair assault, but Big Show countered with the spear. Despite that, Orton came back yet again, hitting a second RKO onto the steel chair! When that miraculously wasn’t enough to beat the giant, The Viper finally finished off his gigantic prey with a punt to the head for the three-count.

The fuse was lit on the personal showdown between WWE’s Apex Predator and the giant when — after vouching for Big Show in the Six-Man Tag Team Match against The Shield at WrestleMania — The World’s Largest Athlete KO Punched Orton and his other partner Sheamus just seconds after they fell short of a Show of Shows victory. Big Show blamed the loss to “The Hounds of Justice” on both Orton and The Celtic Warrior. Orton believed, however, that because he pushed for the gigantic Superstar to be part of the team in the first place, it was his responsibility to pay his attacker back in full.

In the weeks that followed, the nine-time World Champion fell prey to numerous attacks by The World’s Largest Athlete. Never to be outdone, though, The Viper struck back, most recently scoring a giant-size tag team victory over Big Show, Mark Henry & Jack Swagger on SmackDown — paving the way for their volatile Extreme Rules Match where disqualifications and count-outs would not be an option.

“Miz TV” hijacked by “Extreme” measures
WICHITA, Kan. — With Extreme Rules just two days away, a massive six-man SmackDown main event battle put teamwork on full display as the WWE Universe prepares for a collision course at Sunday’s pay-per-view.

The Awesome One kicked off the last SmackDown before Extreme Rules with another unpredictable episode of “Miz TV,” welcoming special guests Randy Orton and Big Show — as they prepared to square off in an Extreme Rules Match at Sunday’s pay-per-view.

The volatile situation soon turned downright explosive, however, when Jack Swagger and his “founding father” Zeb Colter, Alberto Del Rio, Mark Henry and eventually a strap-carrying Sheamus all crashed the party to deliver a respective message to their imminent Extreme Rules opponents. The Celtic Warrior would ultimately break the tension, diving into the ring and scattering Swagger, Big Show, Colter and Henry.

Soon after, Senior Advisor to the SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long used the incident to schedule a huge pre–Extreme Rules Six-Man Tag Team Match, pitting Sheamus, Orton & Del Rio against Big Show, Swagger & Henry!

Sheamus, Orton & Del Rio def. Henry, Big Show & Swagger
As the clock continued to click down closer and closer to Extreme Rules, a main event for the ages raged on SmackDown in the form of a Six-Man Tag Team Match between imminent pay-per-view adversaries. With Sheamus, Randy Orton & Alberto Del Rio in one corner and Mark Henry, Big Show & Jack Swagger in the other, tensions and emotions ran high as the two powerhouse teams looked to gain momentum heading into Sunday.

Despite early dominance by Big Show’s team, the action soon broke down into chaos as the six competitors started an all-out brawl. But a ringside Brogue Kick to The World’s Largest Athlete and an in-ring RKO to Swagger ensured a hard-fought victory for Sheamus, Orton & Del Rio, putting their teamwork on full display and sending the WWE Universe home happy as Extreme Rules approaches.

Randy Orton def. Antonio Cesaro
Antonio Cesaro boldly proclaimed himself last week as the Superstar who puts the “W” in WWE, but for the second time in a week The Swiss Superman found himself coming up short against the Superstar who has proved to be his personal foil: Randy Orton. Following their slugfest on WWE Main Event last Wednesday, Cesaro came to Raw looking to de-fang The Viper in a bid for retaliation, but the elusive victory over Orton continued to evade his grasp.

The loss didn’t come for lack of trying, as Cesaro attacked Orton wtih ruthless aggression and seemed hell beat on putting The Viper out to pasture, countering Orton’s hanging DDT with a rollup pin that nearly sent The Apex Predator to the showers. But The Swiss Superman ultimately found himself putting the “KO” in RKO when Orton lashed out with his feared finisher to cut Cesaro’s night short.

Randy Orton promised ‘venomous bite’ for Big Show at Extreme Rules
Randy Orton talked about Big Show’s sneak-attack KO Punch Monday on Raw, telling Renee Young that he vouched for Big Show at WrestleMania — and that has now cost him twice. As a result, The World’s Largest Athlete will have to deal with The Viper’s bite — and according to Orton, there will be no antidote for that when they square off at Extreme Rules!

Big Show def. Tensai; Orton Hits RKO on Big Show
Despite another spirited entrance by Tons of Funk, the music stopped short for Tensai when Big Show leveled the dancing Superstar with a thundering KO Punch just moments into their bout. Just like that, the match was over and The World’s Largest Athlete turned his attentions to Tensai’s tag team partner, Brodus Clay.

But when Big Show looked to put The Funkasaurus down, Randy Orton came out of nowhere to strike — leveling The World’s Largest Athlete with an RKO!

Randy Orton def. Antonio Cesaro
Although he failed to reclaim the U.S. Title from Kofi Kingston on WWE Main Event last week, Antonio Cesaro’s renewed vigor has caused the Swiss Superman to ditch his yodeling and instead set out to prove that he is the best grappler in WWE. Cesaro dominated Zack Ryder on Raw before staking a bold claim: “I put the ‘W’ in WWE … there is no one who can do what I do in this ring.”

Facing former WWE Champion Randy Orton on WWE Main Event provided the Swiss-born Superstar with an excellent opportunity to prove his clout and “walk the walk.” The two have squared off previously, although Cesaro has yet to defeat WWE’s Apex Predator.

As the opening bell sounded, the Swiss Superman’s strategy involved perfectly partnering his power and technical abilities. However, The Viper is no slouch, eventually taking control and methodically striking his opponent. Cesaro displayed adaptability by altering his approach and using his power to strike back methodically in his own right. Targeting Orton’s shoulder – wisely trying to neutralize the RKO – the former U.S. Champion proved his abilities at The Viper’s expense in and out of the ring.

Fighting back, Orton tried to match Cesaro pound-for-pound, but the Swiss Superman often rebounded and maintained control. Focusing his attacks on Orton’s shoulder, the WWE Universe gasped for air with each near-fall in Cesaro’s favor. After taking out WWE’s Apex Predator by tossing him into the air and executing a perfect European uppercut, the match seemed to be all but over as the Swiss-born Superstar lifted his opponent up – no doubt preparing for The Neutralizer. Unfortunately for Cesaro, The Viper dug deep and mustered the energy for an RKO to secure the victory.

Randy Orton def. Damien Sandow
Being a learned man, it stands to reason that Damien Sandow is well-versed in the vicious nature of a viper. But why “The Duke of Decency” assumed he could get away unscathed after mocking Randy Orton’s theme song is a question even Sandow’s mighty cranium can’t sort out, because he did in fact perpetrate said parody and did, in fact, pay dearly as a result.

The inaugural Raw bout between the two hardscrabble Superstars did not disappoint, but you don’t need a scholar to deduce how this particular story came to its end. Sandow fought back from an onslaught by The Viper to reclaim the advantage, but Orton powered back and sealed the victory with a mighty RKO (he must not have liked the song). Alas, The Apex Predator didn’t make it out quite so clean, as he suffered another sneak attack courtesy of a KO Punch from Big Show atop the entrance ramp that left him seeing stars moments after his big win.

Randy Orton def. Damian Sandow; Big Show caused post-match commotion
After The Viper ultimately overcame the dangerous Intellectual Savior of the Masses with the RKO, Big Show emerged after the bell to again blame Randy Orton for their loss in the Six-Man Tag Team Match at WrestleMania.

The giant’s distraction allowed the recovered Sandow to attack The Viper from behind and hit Terminus on WWE’s Apex Predator. Finding the post-match assault extremely humorous, The World’s Largest Athlete challenged Orton to a match at Extreme Rules. Will the nine-time World Champion accept?

Randy Orton def. Cody Rhodes
Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes have a long, storied history together (one might almost call it a legacy), and it appeared that a long sojourn between bouts did nothing to dim their animosity for each other during their Columbus clash on Raw. Rhodes’ rough road of late has put the former Intercontinental Champion in a feral mood, and he gave The Apex Predator everything he had in a truly inspired effort.

But it was Orton, once again harnessing the serpentine instincts that abandoned him at WrestleMania, who proved the tougher of the two this night. Despite Cody’s expert reversal of the RKO into Cross Rhodes, Orton pulled through and spelled Rhodes’ doom with a mid-air RKO … moments before he hit Rhodes with the move a second time when he charged Orton after the match was done.

Friday Night Smackdown Digitals || Friday Night Smackdown Screen Captures

Successful at costing Sheamus his earlier match against Big Show, Mark Henry stomped back to the ring to face the serpentine Randy Orton one-on-one. But before their battle could be decided, The Celtic Warrior would return for payback, hitting a Brogue Kick on The World’s Strongest Man.

While the sound of the bell meant WWE’s Apex Predator would not get the win, he decided to settle for a follow-up RKO on Henry.
